Two London-based event organisers have asked Bollywood star Bipasha Basu to pay them a compensation of 25,000 pounds (Rs 20 lakh) within seven days or face a legal suit.
The organisers, Gurbani Kaur and Ronita Sharma Rekhi, had organised an India-Pakistan fashion show in London and had invited Bipasha Basu to be the showstopper.
She had refused to turn up for the event and had stayed put in her hotel room.
Gurbani told SpotBoye that 25,000 pounds was their calculated loss due to Bipasha’s actions. “If she fails to do so, I will take legal action against her, ” she said.
They allege that Bipasha forced them to buy a ticket for her husband Karan as well and also to extend their stay in a London five-star hotel to five days.
They also allege that Bipasha misbehaved with them and her own manager.
On Thursday, the star had released an open letter describing their charges as “bullying” or “arm twisting”. She alleged that the organisers hadn’t honoured their end of the bargain and had given a false assurance to her manager.
The show co-ordinator Ronita Sharma Rekhi told SpotBoye that the organisers had not only suffered a monetary loss but had also been defamed by the open letter.
They had earlier threatened that they would approach the UK immigration officials and ask them to bar Bipasha from taking up future work in the country.
